Pray Hard, Play Hard - Pt. 1

Pray Hard, Play Hard - Pt. 1

Note* - Today's day was so packed we have two blog posts today.  This is part one!
Hi, it’s Michka - so excited to be back with the team. If we’ve never met, last year my husband and I had the honor of joining the team for the launch of The Corners Chapel. Since we’re from South Africa it feels like such a full circle moment to be back with everyone but this time in Africa. Our cameras are out again (ready to take all the photos and videos to share with you) and we’re so expectant for the time we get to have together.

Today we met with doctors, pilots, chefs and teachers all on a soccer field.

I know, what an interesting place for these people to gather. At first we didn’t know that’s who we were meeting with!

A few of the team headed out early this morning to meet with Ambassadors (the global soccer ministry Pastor Valmir works for) and spend some time with the children from a local school. After sitting and sharing some testimonies, prayers and finding out what their dreams are, we realized exactly who we were with. The future of Mozambique.

The day started with various games on the field. And although we were meeting with about 30 children, the field was shared with about 100 others. So needless to say there were not only 30 children. I loved seeing so many of The Corners Chapel youth step out and lead today (Nana, Samuel, Daniel, Reed and Laney you carried so much grace on that field today.)

We were greeted with lots of enthusiasm and excitement and although there was a language barrier, it didn’t stop the laughs, fun and sharing of Jesus. After each group rotated to a new game we sat together and shared a few testimonies. It was really amazing to see how excited and engaged they were. When we asked some of the groups of children what they wanted to be one day they answered with such expectation.

We also got to share in a few of the classrooms and in one of the classrooms when we spoke about Jesus they answered in song singing about who He is. What a powerful way to respond when hearing His name - in praise.

There’s no doubt that these little hearts are full of faith and that God is working and moving here. You can see that through these programs, the commitment of local leaders and churches abroad God is setting up and already building the next generation. What honor that we get to witness it and be apart of it!

So as you pray for your own hopes and dreams may you pray for these little ones all the way in Mozambique too.

After such a full and heartwarming day, which we thought would end off with a worship rehearsal, but God stepped in and had yet another plan (as He always does.)

And Ariana will continue to share about our evening  in the next post...
Check out some pictures from the first half of the day!
