Our Story

How it all started...

The story of The Corners Chapel begins long before our first service.

In the early 19th century, divinity students from Western Reserve College traveled to a small settlement known as The Corners to preach the gospel. Inspired by Acts 16:10, which says, “We sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them,” these students began referring to the area as Macedonia. The name stuck, and the town was permanently renamed.
Fast forward nearly two centuries, and that same call to proclaim the gospel became the foundation for planting a new church in the Nordonia community. In 2018, Pastor Chase Jones joined the staff of The Chapel in Akron and began gathering a launch team. Despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, The Chapel Nordonia launched online August of 2020.
In 2022, after prayerful consideration and a congregational vote across all Chapel campuses, The Chapel Nordonia began the process of becoming an autonomous church. With a desire to honor the area's history and embrace our mission of transforming lives through the Word of God, we relaunched as The Corners Chapel on December 4, 2022. Our name reflects our vision to be a gospel-centered, multiethnic, multigenerational church that reaches every corner of our community—and the world—with the good news of Jesus Christ.
Since then, it has been an incredible journey. From Sunday services to global missions, we’ve seen God move in ways beyond what we could have imagined. We are so excited about what He has in store for the next chapter of our story!
