OUR DOCTRINE

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of The Corners Chapel based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these Biblical doctrines.  There will always be peripheral doctrines that committed Christians disagree upon, but the essential beliefs of Christianity are non-negotiable. Below is a list of The Corners Chapel’s essential beliefs.

God

There is one Holy, perfect, triune God who is sovereign over all of creation. He is the creator of
all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise. God is
perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is
unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Mankind

Humanity is the special creation of God, made in His own image. However, the very first man,
Adam, sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Now, we are all born with an
inherent sin nature, which leads to death. Sin has fractured all things, leaving the world in
desperate need of Jesus.

Jesus

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the
cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by
grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior.
That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.

Salvation

Our sin has separated us from God, and the consequence of sin is death. But God has made a
way, through faith in Jesus, to deliver us from the consequence of sin. This deliverance is called
“salvation.” All we must do to receive the salvation God offers is to fully trust in Jesus alone as
the payment for our sins. We are saved by God’s grace alone, through faith alone in Christ’s
sacrifice alone, for the Glory of God alone.

The Church

The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and
proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and of
every church of the Lord Jesus Christ to endeavor to make disciples of all nations.

The End of Days

God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According
to His promise, Jesus Christ will return physically and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will
be raised; and Christ will judge the world in righteousness. Then he will reign for all eternity.

The Bible

The Bible, which reveals the aforementioned truths to us, is the Word of God, fully inspired and
without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and
that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
